Sake Cabinet

A tansu-inspired cabinet built to hold and serve a sake set. The carcass is hand-joined; the pulls and catch were machined in-house so the hardware reads as part of the piece rather than a catalog afterthought. The kumiko lattice work was made using a combination of automated machinery and meticulous hand-tuning. And last but not least, we hand made a custom sake set for the cabinet: four guinomi (sake cups) and a tokuri (sake flask.)

This is the kind of object that lives between disciplines — woodworking for the case, machining for the door pulls and stand offsets, detailed Japanese joinery and paper work, and a handmade ceramics set.
